A New Year party on the Marina waters is quite popular among guests. And of course, it is easy to tell why. Well, not just the lavish celebration that it offers. The midnight fireworks at JBR, Ain Dubai and the Palm look stunning from there. So, one can simply sit back and enjoy the views – no pushing through crowds or waiting on the streets. Now once people decide they want to be on the water, the next question that they usually ask is whether to book a new year cruise marina package or go for a new year private yacht. Both are good, but made for different type of people.
How a New Year Cruise Marina Package Works
This is more of a huge party on the water. On the evening of December 31st, you sail on a cruise or let’s say a shared dhow or a luxury catamaran. Each boat can hold almost 80 to 150 people, depending on the size. You have to book one seat per person, not the whole boat. In return, you enjoy a lavish buffet dinner, soft drinks and live entertainment shows. The night comes with a Tanoura dance, a DJ, and even a singer. The boat stays on the water until the fireworks end. Boarding is normally around 8 PM and the cruise ends around 12:30 to 1 AM.
Pricing is the big plus point here. On New Year’s Eve a shared cruise in Dubai Marina usually comes somewhere between AED 250 and AED 900 per person, depending on the deck, the boat and if alcohol package is included or not. For a couple or a small group of 3 to 4 people this is the most practical option, because you get the full celebration feeling and you don’t have to arrange anything yourself.
Having said that, you are sharing the space with strangers. The music, the timing and the menu is decided by the operator, and at midnight everybody is trying to get the same spot near the railing for the fireworks view.

The other thing which makes a big difference is the position. Private yachts can move closer to the fireworks area as per the coast guard limits, while the big dhows are usually on fixed routes. So the view from a yacht at midnight is mostly better.
So Which One Is Better for You?
Suppose you are a couple, a solo traveller or a small group who just wants a nice dinner, some entertainment and the fireworks, then the new year cruise marina package is the better choice. You save money and the setup is ready for you.
But if you are a group of 10 or more, a family who wants privacy, or a company planning a team celebration, then a new year private yacht is worth it. You get your own space, your own music and no fighting for the view at 12. For birthdays or proposals falling on that night also, a yacht makes more sense.
One more thing my suggestion is, book early. Good yachts in Dubai Marina are fully booked by end of November for 31st December, and the cruise tickets for upper deck also sell out quickly.
